The Post Episode 2

On top of Gridiron Gurus on bearcastradio.com, I host a show for UCast, University of Cincinnati's student TV station, called The Post. It's a football post game report that sums up the last game for the Bearcats and looks ahead to the upcoming game. My co-host is a friend and another bearcast sports DJ Duane McDonald. Here is the second episode summing up the Oregon State game and looking ahead to the Fresno State Bulldogs game. Enjoy.

UC Projected to Play in............ WHAT!!!!!

So I'm piddling around on the old web and I stumble upon this site. Go ahead and check it out, I'll wait.

Good, you're back. What did you think? Did you see what I saw? I know I couldn't believe it either. UC as in the University of Cincinnati as in the University of Cincinnati Bearcat football team is predicted to go to the BCS National Championship game this year to face the Florida Gators. No this is not in some sort of alternate universe or parallel dimension, this is actually happening.

But this means somebody outside of Cincinnati has taken notice of the awesomely powerful Bearcat offense and adequate defense (other than Rutgers, SEMU, and Oregon State). That's right. Now check out this site. That's right, UC quarterback Tony Pike is on ESPN's Heisman Watch List. Have I blown your mind yet?

I know what you're thinking; you're thinking, "Jason, it's way to early to be talking or even thinking about this. It's only week three." You're right, it is only week three but when was the last time you saw a Bearcat quarterback on the Heisman Watch List and when was the last time you noticed that UC was predicted to play in the BCS National Championship game? That's right.... never. Just the fact that others are taking notice is exciting.

This is complete and total proof that this football team is moving in one direction, the right direction. It's an exciting time to be a Bearcat fan and as long as things keep going the way they are, it won't be getting dull any time soon.

It's Go Time

Welcome back,

I've been hosting Gridiron Gurus on bearcastradio.com all summer along side with my co-host and trusty side kick Terique Scott. We've had a couple good interviews and a slew of special guest including family members and friends. We've had a blast so far but now it's time to kick it into that extra gear and put our game faces on.

School starts today (Wednesday the 25th) and so does Gridiron Gurus (or re-starts) as far as I'm concerned. UC is ranked 14th in the new AP Poll (only one spot behind our "big brother" Ohio State) and more than one college football bowl prediction site have predicted that the Bearcats will face off against the Gators in the BCS National Championship game. That's right, you aren't seeing things. You may not be buying it (yet) but there are some respected members of the sporting world that are selling it.

Also, the Bengals went to Green Bay this past weekend and brought home a much needed win for the fans of the orange and black. I don't care what you think of him, but I would be willing to bet that you were smiling when Chad Ochocinco did the Lambeau Leap after his touchdown. To top it off, the Steelers lost to a team that beat the team that we just beat (I think that makes sense... maybe it means something, it probably doesn't but maybe).

Bottom line, it's an exciting time to be a football fan in Cincy and my job is going to be to make it even better. Terique and I will try to get a guest on every week and interviews as often as we can. Don't hesitate to email us at gridirongurusonbearcast@gmail.com to hear your opinions and thoughts and call us in the studio on Wednesday nights from 6 to 8 at 513-314-9087.

Our first show this fall is going to be a great one. We will hit you with our thoughts on the latest and biggest NFL and NCAA football news and we'll pick our winners for the next weekend's games. Also we'll be joined by Brad Riter of Riter Radio, 4-7pm Monday through Friday on WECK-AM 1230 in Buffalo, NY and WLVL-AM 1340 in Lockport to talk about the Bills and of course T.O.

So make sure you tune in this Wednesday night from 6 to 8 and every Wednesday night to hear me and Terique on Gridiron Gurus.

1st Show Back

What can I say, it was awesome to be back in the studio after a month long break. The show tonight was awesome. Unfortunately, Terique couldn't make it in but a good friend of mine, Kyle, filled in and in case you didn't listen, the special guest was my dad. I've been trying to get him on the show for a long time and finally he agreed. It was a good time.

The game that I mentioned called "Has the Student Become the Master" ended up not really working out. Well my special guest (my dad) would say the student hasn't become the master yet. Here was the whole premise of the game: I wrote down 5 football questions and he did the same and while the theme to Jeopardy was playing, Kyle asked my questions to him and his questions to me and well... you get the idea.

Well an example of my questions was: Fill in the blank... Michael (blank) Turner. The obvious answer, football fans, is of course his nickname Burner as in Michael Burner Turner. An example of his dumb questions is: Who was the field goal kicker from UC (University of Cincinnati) who kicked a field goal in a super bowl for the Baltimore Colts..... No, trust me, you read it right... the Baltimore Colts.. a football team that doesn't exist anymore. Obviously he says he won but I think otherwise because his questions were from before I was born.

Next week's show will be great, it'll be the week after college football opening weekend and it'll be the Wednesday before opening kickoff in the NFL. There will be tons to talk about especially the recap of UC's huge opening game at Rutgers.

Will I be in Miami again to watch UC play in the Orange Bowl on New Years Day again this year? I sure as hell hope so... it was awesome last year.

Thanks for listening,
-Jason
